Base camp botany : plant lists kept by Howell and Peter H. Raven from Sierra Club outings in the Sierra Nevada, California, 1940-1953.

Howell did the lists for 1940 through 1949, including Kings Canyon National Park, Upper Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River, Mineral King and vicinity, Vicinity of Mono Pass and the Fourth Recess, Big Pine Lakes Basin, Inyo County; Southern Sierra Nevada where Inyo, Fresno, and Tulare counties come together; and Vicinity of Mt. Whitney, Tulare and Inyo counties. Peter H. Raven did the lists for 1950 through 1953, including Inyo and Fresno counties, Middle Fork of San Joaquin River, Evolution Valley, and Second Recess along Mono Creek.
